Dedicated to Enhancing the Understanding of Society
through the Study of Costume
The Fashion Archives and Museum of Shippensburg University has been an integral part of the University’s academic programming since 1980, offering interdisciplinary opportunities to students in a variety of topics. The Archives collects, preserves and interprets, in an historical and social context, its collection of apparel and related objects, which range from the 18th century to the present, with emphasis on items associated with middle-class and working Americans and with Pennsylvanians.
Gifts to the SU Foundation for the Fashion Archives endowment help ensure that the organization will continue to maintain museum-quality stewardship of current holdings and future acquisitions, mount public exhibitions of its collection, integrate its collection into the classroom, provide students with valuable experiences in exhibit management, and sponsor lectures, workshops and other public programs, among other things.
