Faculty Endowments

To be an outstanding university, Shippensburg University must have an outstanding faculty. The University has been building such a faculty for many years, recruiting the best people in a variety of fields and seeking to provide the opportunities and resources necessary to encourage superior scholarship, excellent teaching, and extraordinary service to Pennsylvania and the nation.

Endowed support for faculty is invaluable in assisting the University to recruit leading scholars who have achieved distinction elsewhere. Support in the form of Endowed Faculty Chairs  attracts senior-level faculty, encourages snterdisciplinary research, raises the prestige of the University and aids in student recruitment, especially at the graduate level.

Endowed Faculty Chairs
The Chair, named by the benefactor(s), provides funds, in addition to a professor’s regular compensation, to attract and retain nationally and internationally known faculty.

  • A leadership gift of $1.5 million will establish an Endowed Faculty Chair

Faculty EndowmentEndowed Professorships
While recognizing achievement and potential, a Professorship enables the University to compete for, and retain, scholars marked for distinction.

  • A leadership gift around $500,000 will establish an Endowed Professorship

Faculty Professional Development
An endowed Faculty Professional Development fund  supports faculty as they conduct both applied and basic research, provides funding for travel to professional conferences and workshops to present papers or results of research projects, enables faculty to maintain professional contacts and keep current with the latest developments in their disciplines.

  • A gift of $25,000 will provide approximately $1,000 annually to support Faculty Professional Development
