Cultural events and opportunities abound on the campus of Shippensburg University, not only for the campus community but for the surrounding Central PA region.
H. Ric Luhrs Center: The Luhrs Center strives to be the center of a myriad of programs designed to enhance the University’s role in service to the people of Pennsylvania. Among its benefits to the region:
- expanded opportunities to participate in a wide range of cultural programming including full-scale Broadway performances, comedians, symphonies, Pop and Rock performances, kid/family shows and internationally-known speakers;
- to add options for professional training programs, youth programs and senior citizen programs; to attract regional and national business conferences, professional meetings and planning sessions;
- and to attract additional visitors and guests to the area resulting in a positive impact on the local and regional economy in such areas as hotels, restaurants, specialty shops and other support services.
Fashion Archives & Museum: The Fashion Archives and Museum of Shippensburg University expands knowledge and appreciation of clothing for its artistic, cultural and historical importance and its essential role in society. As an integral component of the university, the FA&M endeavors to stimulate dynamic learning through research and instruction enriched by interactive educational programs, exhibits and publications in collaboration with faculty, students, the region and the greater global community while preserving and enhancing the collection.
